Senior Data Engineer (Agritech)

Role Overview: Twiga Foods is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to lead our data infrastructure efforts. You will be responsible for building the pipelines that ingest and process agricultural and supply chain data to drive our optimization engines. This role is crucial for our data-driven approach to solving food security in Africa. Responsibilities: - Design and build scalable data pipelines using Python and Airflow. - Manage and optimize our data warehouse in Snowflake or BigQuery. - Implement robust ETL/ELT processes for supply chain and market data. - Ensure data quality and reliability across all production environments. - Collaborate with data scientists to provide clean, model-ready data. - Lead the adoption of data engineering best practices and modern tools. - Mentor junior data engineers and help in team building. Requirements: - 6+ years of experience in data engineering or a related field. - Expert level proficiency in Python and advanced SQL. - Strong experience with Airflow, Spark, and cloud data warehouses. - Proven track record of building large-scale data infrastructure. - Passion for agritech and solving regional challenges with data. Nice-to-haves: - Experience with real-time data processing and Kafka. - Familiarity with dbt and data modeling principles. - Previous experience in a fast-growing startup.
